Scott M. Schmidt, C.F.S.P. President
Scott was born in Buffalo, New York and moved to the canal town of
Middleport shortly after the Blizzard of ’77. A graduate of Royalton
–Hartland Central School he went on to attend and graduate from the
State University of New York Canton College of Technology where he
received his A.A.S. degree in Mortuary Science. As a practicing NY
State Licensed Funeral Director since 1984, he has spent his entire
professional career in Albion, New York where he works for Christopher
Mitchell Funeral Homes. Scott was elected to the office of Orleans
County Coroner in 1990. He is a member of several community service
organizations, the local fire department and serves as organist at
Barre Center Presbyterian Church. He also is the Regional Training
Officer for the Region 2 Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team, a
specialty response team of the FEMA’s National Disaster Medical System
under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Scott lives in Albion
with his wife Aleka, and daughters: Hayley-age 12, and Danielle-age 1 ½

Warren H. Riles, C.F.S.P. 1st Vice President
Warren was born in Cannonsburg, Penna. and moved to Palmyra, New York
in 1956. He is a graduate of Palmyra-Macedon Central School and the
Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. In 1970 he purchased a
funeral home in Forestville, New York re-naming it Riles Funeral Home.
It operated under that name until October 2002 at which time Riles
& Woolley, Inc. was formed. Warren serves as the president of the
corporation which operates Riles & Woolley Funeral Home and Riles
& Woolley Monuments. Warren was first appointed a Chautauqua County
Coroner in 1975 and today serves as the Chief Coroner. He is a member
and past president of the Chautauqua County Funeral Director’s
Association, a member and director of the New York State Funeral
Director’s Association, where he serves on the Disaster Task Force and
the Supervisory Committee for the Director’s Choice Credit Union.
Warren is a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Forestville where
he is a past senior warden and church organist. He belongs to many
fraternal organizations and has served on many local committees.

James A. Terzian, M.D. Treasurer
James is a Board-certified forensic pathologist who has practiced in
New York State for more than 30 years. He is currently based in
Binghamton, NY (Broome County), as the Medical Director of Pathology
and Laboratory at Lourdes Hospital. Dr. Terzian performs
autopsies at the request of coroners for several surrounding
counties. He is also a Clinical Professor of Pathology at Upstate
Medical University, teaching pathology to medical students on a regular
basis. A member of many local and national medical, pathology and
forensic societies, Dr. Terzian has lectured in front of groups such
as NYSACCME and the New York State Police. He has also
appeared on national television's Court TV - Forensic Files.
